We are an independent club that relies on parent volunteers for all operations outside of coaching. We have a range of opportunities and almost none of them require any lacrosse experience. To make our club successful, it's our expectation that every family participate in some way.
To learn more about any of these roles or to volunteer, please email us at rglaxc@gmail.com.
The following is a list of roles that the team is looking to fill this year:
Communications Manager
This is a board-level role. No lacrosse experience is needed. Helpful skills for this role - strong, proactive communications skills, organizational skills.
Maintaining the RGLC mailing list (players, parents, coaches)
Writing and sending out timely emails as needed to the RGLC community
Writing and submitting communications to the relevant RHS communications channels (ePTSA, Principal Brewer email, etc.)
Checking the RGLC gmail account on a regular basis and responding/forwarding mail as needed
Coordinating communication with the captains as needed
Attending RGLC monthly board meetings
Making and distributing the team Sideline Cards (updating the previous year’s card) before the first game of the season
Drafting and sending out end-of-season survey
Creating end-of-season “yearbook”
Transportation Coordinator
We will have a lot of underclassmen on the team this year. We’re looking for a parent to help coordinate rides to our six away games, and practices if needed, so that everyone is included.
Experience: No lacrosse experience needed.
Timeframe: During the season as needed
Film/Photo Coordinator
We are looking for a parent to coordinate the following (this parent doesn’t need to be the one filming the game or taking photos - no lacrosse experience needed)
Coordinate “media day” at the start of the season - team photos in uniform and headshots (typically the first Friday of the season before practice)
Ensure games are filmed and uploaded to YouTube for coaches. They use film clips as teaching tools. In the past we’ve had a combination of parents and students film games. We provide volunteer service hours for student filmers. We have a tripod. Filmers use their phones.
Recruit a sideline photographer (parent or student) for home games. We can provide volunteer service hours for student photographers.
Experience: No lacrosse experience needed.
Timeframe: Starting in January, this person would want to start recruiting students or parents for these roles, and then it would continue throughout the season to ensure we have coverage.
Senior Night Support
RGLC tradition dictates that the juniors take the lead in planning Senior Night. We’re looking for one or two parents who can help support the juniors with planning this event.
Experience: No lacrosse experience needed
Timeframe: Senior Night is typically one of the last home games of the season, so planning usually starts a couple weeks before.
Team Dinner Host
We’re looking for families willing to host potluck dinners for the team. We’re hoping to do two of these during the season.
Game-Day Volunteers
We are required to have volunteers for every game. For each home game, we need parents to help with field set up, work the game table, run the scoreboard, serve as Sideline Manager, and help clean up after the game. For away games, we need volunteers to work the table and serve as Sideline Manager. We provide training for all roles. At the start of the season we will distribute a sign-up for specific games and roles.
